Ian Rutt is postdoctoral research associate at the Bristol Glaciology Centre. He read Physics at the University of Oxford , graduating in 1999, and went on to complete a PhD on near-grid-scale topography in weather prediction and climate models at the Meteorology Department, University of Reading in 2003. Dr Rutt has been at Bristol since October 2003, and his research focuses on the numerical modelling of ice sheets and related systems. During this time, he has played a central role in the development of GLIMMER, a flexible, highly configurable and freely-available ice sheet model. Other interests include Earth System modelling, in particular the simulation of recent glacial cycles, and software engineering in scientific computing.
